This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Proctor Specialist - Science Enrichment Center who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for providing non-classroom, academic testing for science students on an individual basis.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred: Associate Degree

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Previous experience in customer service-oriented position.

Preferred: Previous experience in a testing center.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proctor and administer individual student exams.
  • Monitor exams to ensure testing accommodations are provided and exam security is maintained.
  • Manage test scheduling forms and other proctored testing requests.
  • Communicate with the supervisor and faculty regarding testing arrangements.
  • Document any testing misconduct or irregularities, notifying the supervisor in cases of test security breaches.
  • Prepare exams for administration and organize their return to faculty upon completion.
  • Securely maintain testing records and logs with integrity, ensuring confidentiality regarding student testing and case information.
  • Collaborate with other college offices concerning testing needs.
  • Greet students, faculty, staff, and the general public with professionalism, especially when encountering resistance or hostility.
  • Collect test schedule forms and other required paperwork, directing students to sign in and out for testing appointments, tutoring, and lab use.
  • Provide general information to callers and direct them to the college website as appropriate.
  • Protect and manage access to paper and digital passwords.
  • Facilitate the use of computers and graphing calculators for testing.
  • Mentor newly hired student workers.
  • Contribute to the development of a training manual for student workers to enhance their skills.
  • Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

Pay grade 5 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies up to 50 pounds, as needed. Must be able to sometimes sit or stand for long periods of time.

Working Environment: This is a part time position not to exceed 19 hours per week. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary). This job operates in a professional testing center environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, and filing cabinets.
