Your Day to Day Life
We are looking for a Laboratory Director located at 1421 Dixie St, Amarillo, TX 79102-1032 USA. Your mission will be to own and operate a successful laboratory by displaying an entrepreneurial spirit, inspiring excellence in others, building strong customer relationships, making sound operational decisions and leading change.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the business; develop and implement a strategic plan for the laboratory to meet business goals
- Manage financial aspects of the business including budget development, short and long-term financial goal setting, P&L management and executing strategies to achieve goals
- Understand and leverage available resources to achieve results in a cost-effective, safe, ethical manner
- Develop and maintain expertise in food science and related technologies
- Demonstrate leadership through communication and actions to earn respect and trust of the team
- Set the tone of integrity, accountability, excellence and initiative; model expected leadership behavior
- Communicate goals and accountability across all levels of the workforce
- Create and foster an environment where coaching and development is a priority
- Align laboratory performance with corporate objectives to maintain or improve operational and financial efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures; strive for quality, safety and efficiency
- Provide exceptional internal and external customer experiences through engagement and service
- Engage with sales to understand customer needs and build trusting relationships
- Develop deep industry knowledge and participate in industry events
- Provide technical expertise to clients by interpreting laboratory data and suggesting solutions
- Evaluate the laboratory continuously, implement strategy changes, set clear goals and measure progress
- Communicate changes and coordinate with corporate partners and leadership
- Participate in internal quality control programs, audits, and ensure the quality system is documented and adhered to
- Monitor quality activities and implement corrective actions; manage controlled documents
Your Profile
- Bachelors degree required, or equivalent experience; Masters degree preferred
- Advanced knowledge of microbiology and/or chemistry in addition to food science
- General knowledge of finance, budgeting, sales, and marketing to build and maintain customer relationships
- Computer skills to track laboratory information and support management functions
- Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Analytical problem-solving and strong communication skills
- Customer relationship skills and previous supervisory experience
Management (Size and Characteristics of the Team)
- Oversees one or multiple lab managers depending on lab size
- Each manager oversees a group of lab supervisors who support technicians and staff
